Sparkle N Sprinkle Blue Botanical Orchid Flowers {11.29.2017}

Hi! Designer Chris on the blog today. Wow - I love orchids, and this new Botanical Orchid Flowers stamp set is amazing! The orchid is beautiful, gorgeous, and so versatile! I had a lot of fun with this card. Let's check it out.

I positioned my orchid stamp in the Tim Holtz Stamp Platform. I treated some watercolor cardstock with my Anti Static Bag, and placed the cardstock inside the Tim Holtz Stamp Platform and stamped the image using Versafine Black Onyx ink, which is waterproof. I sprinkled on Clear Detail embossing powder, using the Craft Spoon, and heat set the image. Then, I started to watercolor! I colored the orchid in blue, with yellow and orange highlights, and colored the leaves in greens. I then colored the background with a light blue wash to add some depth. Then I sat it aside to dry. Once it was dry, I die cut the image using Tonic Studio's Scalloped Square Layering Basics Die Set. I also trimmed some black cardstock, and Tonic's Falling Glitter Craft Perfect Embossed Paper using the Tonic Studio 12" Wide Base Craft Guillotine, and then die cut them with the Tonic Studio's Scalloped Square Layering Basics Die Set and layered them all together!! Then, I covered the entire image with Nuvo Morning Dew crystal drops. This added a lot of shine to the flower and really popped it up a notch! I also squeezed some drops of the Nuvo Morning Dew crystal drops in the corner.

For the sentiment, I treated some extra piece of my watercolored cardstock with my Anti Static Bag, then positioned the sentiment inside the Tim Holtz Stamp Platform and stamped it using Versamark Ink. I scooped out some Peacock embossing powder using my Craft Spoon, and heat set it. Then, I cut out the sentiment with Tonic Studio's Scalloped Square Layering Basics Die Set. I LOVE this Peacock embossing powder ... absolutely stunning. You can see all the different colors in this embossing powder below. Wow!

One last shot of the edge of the card, with the sweet Nuvo Morning Dew crystal drops and that amazing Falling Glitter Craft Perfect Embossed Paper. This paper is incredible! It has such a wonderful texture, and the paper is really soft. It isn't stiff but is very substantial. Hard to describe, but oh so perfect!

I know you will love this Botanical Orchid Flowers stamp set, and I can't wait to see how you use it! Remember to post your creations in the Sparkle N Sprinkle Creative Challenge on Facebook, which runs from the first of each month to the 25th.

Thanks for stopping by. Have a magical day!

Kind Card for Mom (#47/52) {11.24.2017}

Hi! This week's card for Mom is from the Simon Says Stamp November 2017 monthly card kit. I trimmed a piece of green cardstock, from the kit, using my Tonic Studio 12" Wide Base Craft Guillotine to 5-1/2" x 8-1/2". I scored it to make it a side-fold card, and set it aside. I trimmed a piece of patterned paper from the kit to 4" x 5-1/4" and adhered it to the front of the card. Then, I stamped out the "Kind floral" stamp using my Tim Holtz Stamp Platform and Versamark ink onto chocolate cardstock. Then I colored the image with Prismacolor colored pencils. Once I was done coloring, I placed it back into my Tim Holtz Stamp Platform, reinked the stamp with Versamark ink, and stamped it over the colored image. The stamp platform allowed me to line it up exactly and stamp right over it! Then, I sprinkled on Gold Detail embossing powder from Sparkle N Sprinkle, and heat set it. I fussy cut around the Kind floral image and foam mounted it over the patterned paper. And, cuz I couldn't stop there, I adhered some stickers from the monthly kit all around. Here is the card!

Here is a close up of the Kind floral image. It sure is a gorgeous stamp! This was a fun monthly kit, and I love the supplies in it!

I love how this Gold Detail embossing powder really makes this image pop! And I love how easy it is to stamp out the image with any ink, color it, then replace it into the stamp platform and ink it up again and then heat emboss it. It is much easier to get a nice colored image without knocking out some of the embossing powder!

Cards 4 Galz Cupcake Card {11.23.2017}

Hi! Here is my current Cardz 4 Galz card for our Cupcake Challenge.

I stamped out the Happy Birthday sentiment from Taylored Expressions' Bubble Greetings stamp set in Versafine Black Onyx ink on white cardstock and then sprinkled on Clear Detail embossing powder. I also stamped it again on patterned paper and embossed it with Clear Detail embossing powder too. I fussy cut the "happy" out and layered it over the original image. I die cut out the card panel with Tonic Die Layering Basic Die Set Sunray Venus die and cut the next larger size out of pink cardstock to mat the image. Here is the closeup of the Happy part of the sentiment.

I also stamped out several cupcakes using Lawn Fawn's (unfortunately, retired) Bake Me a Cake stamp set. I stamped them in colors that match the patterned paper. I love this stamp set, and will keep using it!!!

This card is bright and cheery, and these cupcakes make me happy! This will be going to my niece who loves bright colors.

Thanks for stopping by. Have a magical day!

Sparkle N Sprinkle Cat's Meow {11.22.2017}

Hi from Designer Chris! Today's card is using Sparkle N Sprinkle's new Cat's Meow stamp set. These sweet, sassy stamps are the cutest! Let's check out today's card.

I started out by stamping the kitty laying down, on the left. I masked him off, and then stamped the kitty on the far right (I had already sized out how far I had to put the kitties apart so they could all be together), and masked him off too. I then stamped the squatty chubby kitty, masked him, and then stamped the smiley standing cat in the background. I used Tonic Studio's Tim Holtz Stamp Platform for all this stamping, which made the stamping really easy! Sometimes I find I need to stamp twice to get a good impression when I am stamping over a mask. Ya gotta make sure the edges stamp nice and crisp! After stamping all the kitties, I colored them with Copic markers. Then, I whipped out my Sakura Glue Pen and rolled on adhesive in strategic spots. I added some glitters: Creamsicle on the orange striped kitty, Black Ice for the dark gray kitty, and Chameleon for the chubby tubby.

I also used Surf glitter on the light gray kitty!

I die cut the stamped image with the Swirling Frame Layering Die Set, and created a larger layer using the same die on green cardstock. I adhered 3/4" Tear-ific Tape to the back of the negative spaces on the outer edges, and then burnished in Fall Leaves glitter to add some more sparkle! I also squeezed on some White Blizzard Glitter Drops to the edge of the kitty image too!

I also stamped out the sentiment, using Versafine Black Onyx ink, and the sprinkled on Clear Detail embossing powder and heat set it. I die cut the sentiment using the same Swirling Frame Layering Die Set, and used the next larger die to create a bit of a matting for the sentiment. I adhered it on foam tape and adhered it to the card.

These kitties crack me up and they are so funny and sassy! The perfect kitty attitude is captured with these sweet kitties! I can't wait to see what you create with them! Remember to post your creations in the Sparkle N Sprinkle Creative Challenge on Facebook. I'll see ya there!

Mom Birthday Rose Card {11.21.2017}

Today is my Mom's birthday! Check out the card I made for her.

I used Spellbinders Create a Rose die and made this rose (see further below for the bud I made using the same die). I die cut the petals and leaves using the die, and then I did some distress ink blending along the outer edges of the petals and leaves to give a bit more texture. I followed the directions on the die set, and die cut 12 petals of each size, ink blended the edges, and gave some texture by bending the petals with the barrel of a small paint brush, and then glued on the petals to the flower base. I adhered all the pieces together with Nuvo's Deluxe Adhesive.

I also die cut out the "happy" using Alt E New's Happy Die. I die cut four of them in red, stacked them up, and glued them all together with Nuvo's Deluxe Adhesive. Then, I die cut another one with white cardstock, and adhered it to the top of the stack offset a bit to give a bit of a red shadow. Afterwards, I swiped my Wink of Stella glitter pen across the die to give it some extra sparkle!

Here is the bud I made using the Spellbinder's Create a Rose die. I cut 12 of the smallest petals and ink blended the edges and shaped them. I adhered them with the Nuvo's Deluxe Adhesive and adhered a bud to each edge of the bud.

To give this card a little extra dimension and oomph, I die cut four layers of the Tonic Die Budding Vine Patterned Panels die. I adhered them all together with my Nuvo's Deluxe Adhesive. I also die cut some ovals with the Tonic Die Layering Basics Die Set Mixed Edge Oval die. I cut another layer of the Tonic Die Budding Vine Patterned Panels die and then cut it with the oval die too and layered this up to give the rose area a bit of a framing. I also cut out some flourishes with a flourish die from my stash, using gold paper.

And, to finish it off, I stamped a Happy Birthday sentiment from Taylored Expression's Friendly Phrases stamp set in Versamark Ink and sprinkled on Red Apple embossing powder. I also stamped some flourishes from Sparkle N Sprinkle's Flourishes 1 stamp set in light red ink to give a hint of a flourish border.

I really hope Mom likes this card. She loves flowers, and this was my first time using this Rose die. It came together fairly well, and I like all the dimension and textures. Happy Birthday my wonderful Mommy! May you have many more! I love you!!

Fairy Card for Mom (#46/52) {11.17.2017}

Hi! Here is a quick and easy card I made for Mom. My local paper crafting store received new fairy paper from Graphic 45. The colors for these patterned papers were just beautiful ... so I had to make a card for Mommy. Here is the card.

I also fussy cut out a panel from one of the patterned papers. I foam mounted it as the card image, and my card was done. No stamping ... no die cutting (shocking, right!?!). Just some paper cutting with my Tonic Studio 12" Wide Base Craft Guillotine, and my scissors. Pretty simple, pretty easy, such gorgeous paper!

These photos don't quite do the paper justice ... these papers are gorgeous! I think you should give them a try!

And, once again here is my card! I used the Botanical Orchid Flowers digi stamp.

I opened up Microsoft Publisher, and then created a new document. I inserted the orchid digital file and then clicked on the image. That created another menu "Picture Tools / Format." Then, I clicked on "Recolor" and chose the a lighter version of the actual pre-colored image. Here is a screen shot of what the menu choices looked like.

This Botanical Orchid Flowers digi image looked so cool after I re-colored it, so I actually designed the card around the new color scheme of the image. I die cut the image using Tonic's Mixed Edge Oval Layering Basics Die Set. I also cut out the next larger oval from cream cardstock. I layered these two together, and swiped some Sakura Quickie Glue Pen around the outer edge of the inner oval and sprinkled on Evening Glow glitter. I pulled out my Tonic Framed Screens Blocked Parquet die and die cut two side-by-side images of the die and the outer frame.

I also sparkled up the orchid itself. I rolled on more Sakura Quickie Glue Pen and sprinkled on some Cloud Nine glitter. I didn't completely cover the orchid in glitter - I followed along the flower petal veins.

I also printed out one of the stamp set's sentiments. I also die cut this with Tonic's Mixed Edge Oval Layering Basics Die Set. I also die cut the next larger oval out of cream cardstock. I whipped out the Sakura Quickie Glue Pen again and I rolled around the edge of the inner oval, and sprinkled on Evening Glow glitter.

Then, to finish off my card, I layered side-by-side strips of 2-1/2" Tear-ific Tape onto white cardstock. I overlapped these strips just enough to not leave any area without adhesive. Then, I die cut the largest outer frame from the Tonic Framed Screens Blocked Parquet die. Then, I peeled off the release paper, and sprinkled on Evening Glow glitter and burnished in the glitter. I mounted the Blocked Parquet screen onto foam tape, and adhered it over the Evening Glow background panel. To add the final touch, I cut a strip of the Golden Scales Craft Perfect Embossed Paper from Tonic Studios. I adhered this strip across the front of the card, right above the foam mounted oval image.

This card was really fun to make, and I love how it turned out. It came together and it looks pretty elegant, if I do say so myself!

The next stop on the SNS Blog Hop is Diane. She has an amazing treat in store for you - you definitely want to check it out.

Frame Die Card for Mom (#45/52) {11.10.2017}

Howdy! Today's card for Mom is a card I made using a frame die cut. This die cuts out the filigree outer part which you can see in the pink striped paper, and the inner frame which you can see below in the yellow polka dot paper. I also cut out a square and layered it behind the frame too. Put everything onto a dark chocolate cardstock base.

Here is a close up of the patterned paper goodness on this card.

I really like this die, and it was really easy to pull together a fun card. I hope Mom likes it too!

Cardz 4 Galz Thankful Card {11.09.2017}

Hi! Today's card for the current Cardz 4 Galz Challenge is a Thankful card. And, because I guess I am extra thankful right now, I made four cards! The design is the same, but I changed up the patterned paper for each card. Here they are.

I started out by trimming some brown cardstock using my Tonic Studio 12" Wide Base Craft Guillotine, and then scoring it for my card base. I cut some card panels to cover the front of the card base, and used a woodgrain embossing folder and ran them through my Cuttlebug to dry emboss them. Then, I die cut some leaves using Lawn Fawn's Stitched Leaves dies. I ink blended the leaves in several shades of yellow, orange, red, and brown distress inks. I also curled them a bit to give them some extra dimension. I also die cut some Lawn Fawn patterned paper (retired petite paper pack) using Lawn Fawn's Stitched Ovals die. I layered the wood grain embossed card panel over the card base, then layered the oval on top of that. I adhered the leaves and the sentiment panel. Here is a close up of the distressed leaves.

For the sentiment, I used Lawn Fawn's (sadly, also retired) So Thankful stamp set. I treated my paper with my Anti Static Bag, then placed my paper into my Tim Holtz Stamp Platform (AWESOME tool!), inked up the stamp with Versamark Ink, stamped the sentiment, then sprinkled on White Detail embossing powder from Sparkle N Sprinkle, and heat set it. I trimmed the sentiment using Lawn Fawn's Stitched Ovals die set, and adhered this to the card as well.

I look forward to what you create for this challenge, and I can't wait to see all the fabulous cards! 'Tis the season to be grateful and thankful.

Thanks for stopping by. Have a magical day!

Cherry Blossom & Bird Foil Mom Card (#44/52) {11.03.2017}

Hi! This week's card for Mom is highlighting Cherry Blossoms ... which I think you know are my favorite flowers. But this time, the blossoms are FOILED! Let's check out the card.

I used a stencil that had this image on it (bird and cherry blossoms). I layered it over a glittery blue cardstock panel. I spread on some ThermoWeb Transfer Gel and then removed (and cleaned) my stencil. I let it dry for several hours (or maybe even overnight), then added pink foil over all the branches and blossoms, and cut out a small piece of blue foil and layered it over the bird. I ran this through my laminator which adhered the foil to the dried transfer gel. Then, I framed the panel with black cardstock, and then layered this up on a card base. Card was done!

This was a fun card and I love foiling ... I hope Mom likes it.

Thanks for stopping by. Have a magical day!

Sparkle N Sprinkle Farm Fresh Cows {11.01.2017}

Howdy from Designer Chris! Today's card, show casing one of Sparkle N Sprinkle's newest October digi stamp set. I used the Farm Fresh - Cows digital stamp. I also created by own background, and layered in one of the background papers from the Lovely Magnolia digital stamp set from the recent September release. Here is the card. Let's check it out!

One of the many exciting things about using a digi stamp is that it is sizeable. I made the image to the size I wanted, on my computer. I also layered some of the images together (I used the pre-colored images, which are an incredible time saver!). I sized the milk tins and boots (one image) to what I wanted, then added in an egg basket and placed it "behind" the tins on the right, and another larger egg basket "behind" the boots on the left. I sized the left side egg basket bigger because it is more in the foreground and it added some depth to the image by making the baskets different sizes. I dropped in the sweet sentiment from Laura Ingalls Wilder (who I grew up reading!). I printed out the image onto white cardstock, and then die cut it with the Tonic Studio Tonic Die Swirling Frame Layering Die Set. I also blinged up the eggs, boots, and tins. I applied the Nuvo Glue Pen Small onto strategic areas, and used the following glitters: Sonic Silver for the tins, Aquamarine for the boot stripes, and Rose Gold and Peruvian Lily for the eggs. I squeezed on some White Blizzard Nuvo Crystal Drops in two spots around the sentiment.

I also framed up my card base. After I layered everything onto the card, I adhered a strip of 1/8" Tear-ific Tape and burnished in Collegiate Garnet glitter. I also squeezed on drops of Ebony Black Crystal Drops to the corners. So fun! This is also a better photo of the background I made. I started with the green paper option in the Lovely Magnolia digi stamp set. I then layered and sized the cows onto the background. I repeated the cows over and over and staggered them to make a patterned paper background. Once everything was how I wanted it, I printed it out onto white cardstock, and then die cut with the Tonic Studio Tonic Die Swirling Frame Layering Die Set.

I needed more ... I used the Nuvo Glue Pen Small again and rolled on some adhesive along the top and bottom edge of the stamp image die. I sprinkled on more Aquamarine glitter to add just a little hint of sparkle. I also laid down a strip of 1/8" Tear-ific Tape across the front of the main image and burnished in some Sterling glitter.

This was a fun card to make, and it was so much fun and easy using those digital images. I highly recommend this!

Thanks for stopping by. Have a magical day!
