Welcome Baby Card (10/15/2012)

Howdy!  So excited to see you, and I have something fun to share today.  I really like this card, even though it is really simple.  I just can't wait any longer - so let's get right to it:

This card is to welcome a little baby to our world.  I immediately thought of Lawn Fawn's Critters Down Under set, and wanted to put the mama and joey kangaroo on the card.  I stamped out the critter, and the tree (over and over, to create a forest-type effect) and leaves using Memento Black Tuxedo ink on white paper.  I colored these images using Copics and then fussy cut each image.

To frame the image, I decided to create a circle out of a panel from the same light brown colored cardstock and matted the circle with a darker shade of brown.  I went with a scalloped circle because it just felt right, and added a little bit different texture and dimension from a plain circle.

I layered the trees on the card, and adhered the circle-cut and matted cardstock panel with popdots.  I adhered the mama & joey over the trees and pulled some of the trees and leaves through the top and sides of the circle for a little more added dimension:

I layered the leaves across the bottom to anchor the kangaroos, and stamped the "welcome baby" sentiment, from the same stamp set, on a strip of paper matching the circle matting.

This was a fun card, and I like the layered trees, kinda fun!

Thanks for stopping by, have a magical day!

Chris

  2. This card is absolutely adorable! All that precise cutting must have been a lot of work, but it really pays off with the depth and dimension in the card. :)
