I die cut my cardstock, using my Tonic Tangerine machine (incredible!), and used the Mixed Edge Rectangle die set. I layered the heart stencil onto the cardstock - but moved it so that the heart was off the left edge, and higher up. I wanted to allow space for the iris. I used a palette knife and swiped some foil transfer gel onto the cardstock, through the stencil. Here is what it looked like right before I pulled the stencil away (and immediately washed it!). Then, I let it dry, and then added foil with a laminator.
I positioned my stamp in my Tonic Tim Holtz Stamp Platform, treated my cardstock with my Anti Static Bag, inked my stamp with Versamark ink, and stamped it. I sprinkled on Gold Coast embossing powder and heat set it. Here is the iris on the cardstock, before I colored it.
I also stamped out a sentiment from the Bearded Iris stamp set. I repeated the above, positioned my stamp in the Stamp Platform, treated my cardstock with my Anti Static Bag, inked stamp with Versamark ink, stamped the sentiment, sprinkled on Amethyst embossing powder, and heat set it. Then, I die cut out the sentiment with another Tonic Mixed Edge Rectangle die, and then swiped some Sakura Glue Pen just inside the outer edge. I sprinkled on Pink Fizz (my new favorite!) glitter. This gave a soft pink frame around the sentiment. I also squeezed on some Honey Gold glitter drops at the bottom to give it a little something extra.
I colored the Bearded Iris with Zig water color brushes, and then die cut the Bearded Iris with Tonic's Mixed Edge Oval Layering dies. I also added some more Honey Gold glitter drops to the outer edges of the oval.
As I layered all the layers together, I realized that the Iris oval covered up too much of the foiled heart. So, I fussy cut around the left edge of the iris, right up against the embossed line. I fussy cut a black oval frame (by tracing one of the oval dies) and then layered the fussy cut Bearded Iris over it. I fussy cut the left side of the black frame to allow for a smidge of black matting to frame the edge of the iris that went over the foiled heart. This little bit of black separates the Bearded Iris from the heart, and it is really cool in person. I finished adding all my layers, and this card was done!
