Happy Birthday "sampler" (02/29/2012)

Hi!  Today is another great day, and I have another card to share.  Today's card is another "sampler" of some techniques using washi tape and circle punches.  This time, I adhered the washi tape at random angles and completely covered the rectangle in all different tapes.  Then, I cut out circles with my Cuttlebug and Spellbinders Circles dies.

I needed something to pull all the washi tape and colors together, so I tucked a vertical strip of black and white polka dot ribbon around the panel, and edged the panel with Martha Stewart glitter glue.  I used the amazing and wonderful Lawn Fawn Bake Me a Cake set, which I puffy heart !  I did a little copic marker coloring to give the cake some color, and adhered rhinestones in the candles to make them glow & flicker a little.  I cut the sentiment label using Spellbinders dies.  I used Distress Ink to soften the stark white of the sentiment label, and used it to ink the edges.  Here is a close up of the cake and embellishments.

I found a "Happy Birthday" sticker in my ol' stash-a-roo, and adhered it on the bottom of the card as well.  All in all, this is a busy but colorful card, and it was fun to make while I was trying some newer techniques.

I also made an envelope for this card, using a large sheet of blue circle paper.  Gotta love making envelopes out of fun and funky paper!

Thanks for stopping by, have a magical day!

Happy Anniversary card (02/27/2012)

Hello.  Meet today's card ... a Happy Anniversary card to celebrate the wedding of a wonderful friend.

I made a card with blue shimmery paper, and embossed a slightly-smaller piece of the same paper with a Cuttlebug embossing folder.  I also used Inca Gold (silver) to add a bit of contrast to the central heart.  I used Lawn Fawn's Harolds ABCs to spell out Happy Anniversary sentiment.  I also used Pearls and added dots along the bottom.  I fussy cut the butterfly and added a trail of pink rhinestone swirls.  I wanted a little bit more, so I also traced a frame around the panel with silver gel pen.

Thanks for stopping by, have a magical day!

Thank You (with Halloween themes) card (02/24/2012)

Happy Day!  I made up some Thank You cards a while back, right around Halloween time.  I LOVE Lawn Fawn, and had recently purchased their Happy Haunting set.  I was so excited about it, I had to use it for my thank you cards!  And, this is what I came up with.

I stamped the house with silver ink on black paper, and cut it out.  I also stamped ghosts on halloween paper and paper pieced them.  I also stamped a bat flying across the stamped moon.  And, then I drew stitches around the background paper and stamped a little "merci" from a Lawn Fawn thank you stamp.  (Word on the street is, Lawn Fawn includes a cute little thank you sentiment with each and every order from them!)

Here is another Halloween-based Thank You using the same Happy Haunting stamp set.

Thanks for stopping by, have a magical day!

Thank You Card "Sampler" (02/22/2012)

Today's card is a happily little "Sampler" of several new techniques for me.  I attend as many of the weekly Demos at Stampadoodle as I can.  Recently, Wendy, the owner, did a demo on washi tape.  She showed us a beautiful, amazing piece of art she did using washi tape and a circle punch.  She completely covered 4x4 pieces of paper with washi tape, and then punched a circle, spun the circle image within the space created, then re-punched another circle overlapping it (kinda like a Venn diagram!).  I tried this technique but used a rectangle instead of square, and used two different sized circle dies to cut the circles.  Here is the card:

I also wanted to try other embellishments, so I adhered sticky tape across the bottom and sprinkled fine glitter.  I also put blue, aqua and purple rhinestones on the left side of the card, a ribbon across the top, and did clear embossing on the Lawn Fawn Many Thanks sentiment.  I love Lawn Fawn!  And, my friend Mary gave me this stamp set, so I had to make a thank you using it to thank her for her incredibly generous and wonderful gift!  I also put little Pearl dots around the sentiment, and across the top of the card.  And, just to add a little more sparkle, I circled the sides and top of the card with a Martha Stewart glitter glue.

Here is a close up of the Many Thanks sentiment with clear embossing.

I had a lot of fun making this card - and Mary loved it!

Happy Birthday Cupcake (02/20/2012)

Today's card is a Happy Birthday card, with cupcakes.  Who doesn't LOVE cupcakes?

I fussy cut and paper pieced the cupcakes.  I used a floral patterned paper for the icing, and striped and geometric paper for the bases.  Had to throw in some buttons for color, and used one of my fun border punches.

Thanks for stopping by, have a magical day!

Welcome Nova (02/17/2012)

Howdy!  Check out today's card.  We have a baby shower at work and I made a card to celebrate the arrival of little baby Nova.  I made a Welcome to the World card for him.  Here it is:

I also made an envelope for it from a large sheet of colorful blue paper with circles.

The card was made with black shimmery paper.  I used an outer space patterned paper for the background.  I used Lawn Fawn's Quinn's ABCs to stamp out "Welcome" and "Nova," white embossed them, and fussy cut the letters.  I also used Lawn Fawn's Harold's ABCs for the "to the world" sentiment.  I used a circle die cut to make the earth from blue suede paper.  I had to improvise for the continents - Laurie, our crop instructor at Stampadoodle, suggested I trace with vellum, which I did.  I found a map of North and South America on my smart phone, and used the vellum to trace the images, cut it out to create a pattern, and used the pattern to cut out the green suede paper.  Worked great!  THANKS for the tip Laurie!

I also put a little pearl, since the baby is arriving into the world in the Pacific Northwest!  I finished off the card with two strips of glitzy ribbon.

This card was fun to make and I hope the baby and mama enjoy it!

Happy Valentine's Day (02/15/2012)

Hi, meet today's card!  I made some Valentine's cards, and mulberry paper envelopes to go with them.  I scraplifted the card idea from Lawn Fawn's 2/07/12 blog.  I don't have *ALL* of the Lawn Fawn sets used in the example (yet!) so I had to improvise.  I used all the heart stamps I had, including Lawn Fawn and Stampin' Up and others.

I stamped red hearts all over white paper, adhered a ribbon across the panel and under the edges, then adhered the entire panel to the front of a red shimmery card.  I stamped the sentiment on white paper, then die cut and dry embossed using Spellbinders Labels, and adhered them with pop-ups.  I attached some small pearls below the sentiment, and fussy cut a red heart and popped it up too.  Easy peasy!

Thanks for stopping by, have a magical day!
