Today's card is the card I made for my Dad. I struggle with masculine cards, but the good news is, he likes ducks! And, Lawn Fawn just came out with an awesome stamp set called Rub a Dub Dub with ducks, and a whole bunch of bath and rubber duckie type images. But, I turned it into a masculine(ish) card. Here ya go!
I die cut the Peekaboo frame with my Tonic Tangerine machine from plaid paper, then layered it over a piece of gingham paper. I also die cut grass using the grassy border die, and inserted it behind each of the "frames" of the peekaboo die. I also stamped out the ducks onto white cardstock using my Tonic Tim Holtz Stamp Platform and Memento Tuxedu Black ink (a Copic friendly ink). I colored my ducks with Copic markers, and then placed my cardstock back inside the Stamp Platform, inked up the stamps (which I hadn't moved!) with Versafine Black Onyx ink, stamped them again - over the initial images, and then sprinkled on Sparkle N Sprinkle's clear detail embossing powder and heat set it. Then, I die cut out the ducks with the Lawn Fawn Rub a Dub Dub dies, and started placing my ducks around the card. I also stamped out the sentiment with Versafine Black Onyx ink, and then sprinkled on more Sparkle N Sprinkle Clear Embossing powder and heat set it. Here is a close up of the daddy duck and baby duck.
For the inside, I cut two pieces of patterned paper to match the front of the card, and placed the blue gingham as the sky and the green plaid as the ground. I die cut the Pivot Pop-up pieces, placed it all together, added a swatch of grassy border, and then die cut the sentiment using Quinn's Capital ABCs. I copic colored some grass at the base of each letter (easier to see on the Happy than the Birthday!) and strategically placed and adhered the sentiment to the popup.
This card came together fairly well, and I am really pleased that I was able to take a really cute and playful stamp set and make it into a masculine card. I love all these products by Lawn Fawn and this card was fun to make. I think my Dad will enjoy this birthday card! And, I will be entering this card into Lawn Fawnatics Challenge #25: Color Inspiration.
Thanks for stopping by. Have a magical day!
