My blog is the last stop on the blog hop! But, here is a link to Belinda's blog, who was the first stop. Head to her blog, if you somehow started in the middle. You will be glad you did! She creates amazing cards and projects!! Make sure you comment on EVERY blog post in the blog hop to be eligible for the GRAND PRIZE (all these amazing stamp sets!!)

Now, here is my card for the July 2016 Sparkle N Sprinkle Reveal. I used the Milton Catching Snowflakes digital stamp [DIGI787]. He was a lot of fun! I sized the digital image to fill a 4x6 card, and then sized the sentiment fairly big as well. Then, I printed it onto white cardstock and partial die cut it using a 4x6 rectangle die, and then fussy cut around the right hand edge of the sentiment that burst beyond the edge. This gave it a little bit more interest.
I colored Milton and his scarf with Copic markers, and then started blinging up everything I could with glitter! I used the Sakura Glue Pen [Quicky] to draw on glue where I wanted the glitter, and then sprinkled on Collegiate Garnet [G1114] on the red areas, Bridal [G1029] on the white, Margarita [GM2032] on the green, and Princess Anna Royal [G1124] on the blue. It came out really pretty and sparkly!!
I also blinged up Milton's spots and hooves. For his spots, I used Brushable Glue [540], and sprinkled on some Rose Gold Velvet Glitter (Microfine) [GM2023]. Here he is. Check out those fun spots!
And, I repeated the Rose Gold Velvet Glitter (Microfine) [GM2023] on his sweet little horn on his head.
After I colored and glittered Milton, I realized I needed some snowflakes in the background as well. I pulled out the actual rubber stamp set Milton Catching Snow Flakes [787], and stamped the snowflake (by masking off the rest of Milton) with Versamark Ink Pad [VM-001], and embossed them with Skylight Semi-transparent Embossing Powder [EP212]. Here is one close up.
Here are the hooves. I used the Sakura Glue Pen [Quicky] again, and sprinkled on the gorgeous and lush Aztec Gold [G1006] glitter.
Here is a close up of the sentiment. I added some zing to the sentiment. I used the Versamarker Pen [99561], and then sprinkled on more Skylight Semi-transparent Embossing Powder [EP212]. I used the Versamarker Pen on the "kisses" and "blizzard" words and inside the "o"s too. This just added a bit more interest to the sentiment.
And, because the key here is a blizzard of snowflakes, I wanted to add more of a snowflake effect. I didn't have any snowflake dies in my stash, but I realized I could repurpose an existing die I had ... I pulled out my new (and awesome!) Simply Screens Moroccan Mosaic by Tonic die [1049e], and cut out several strips of white cardstock. After I got the screens die cut, I chopped up the screen strips into little "snowflake" pieces. They looked great! But, when I put the white cardstock snowflakes against the card, it seemed like there wasn't enough contrast. So, I pulled out the Nuvo Mousse Pure Platinum [803N] and rubbed it over the cardstock snowflakes. This made the snowflakes a soft platinum color. So pretty!
Here is another shot of the super fun snowflakes along the edge and lower front of the card. I had a fun time cutting them out in different shapes and coloring them with the platinum mousse.
Here is another shot of the full card.

It was really fun, and Milton seems so happy! I hope you enjoyed the card. It makes me smile!

Thanks for stopping by, have a magical day!

Chris

  1. Love this! How clever to use the Tonic Studios die to create your snowflakes! Fabulous card and I love how glittery Milton is. Great idea to make the hop circular as well by linking back to Belinda. (I think I'm going to have to steal this idea :-).)

  16. Very clever using the mosaic die to create the snowflakes, and I love that you made Milton the center of attention! Your use of the glitter, not completely covering all of the color in an area, (i.e. Miltons hoofs), gives the card more interest, awesome!

  19. Like the way you added the glitter to Milton's body, hooves, horn and scarf - just enough to add some sparkle without overdoing. What a creative way to make your snowflakes!

  21. This is definitely an example of thinking outside of the box. Rummaging through your stash for a snowflake substitute and coming up with a border die you could cut up and embellish with crystal drops is creative genius!
